President Uhuru Kenyatta Nominates New Inspector General of Police

KENYA INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE

Following the resignation of the former immediate Inspector General (IG) of the Kenya National Police Service David Kimaiyo on 02/12/14, Kenya's Commander in Chief H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta has on 31/12/14 announced the nomination of one Joseph Kipchirchir Boinett for the position of Inspector General.

 Mr. Boinett is the current Principle Intelligence Officer of Kenya's intelligence agency NIS. He is a long-serving career Policeman who joined the Police Service in 1984 & rose through the ranks to become a Senior Superintended of Police. He transferred to the Intelligence Service in 1998.

He holds two Masters Degrees, one in Security Policy from Australian National Security University and the other in Diplomatic Studies from University of Westminster. He also has a Degree in International Studies & Diplomacy from Washington University and other qualifications in Strategic, Public Management & Leadership Development.

The National Assembly is now expected to approve Mr. Boinett's nomination before he is appointed to become the new IG.
