Over 200 recruits who had been recruited into the National Youth Service last year were kicked out.
This was after it was discovered they had presented fake admission documents.
They were already undergoing training at the NYS college in Gilgil
Up to 5000 youths were selected during the nationwide Kenya National Youth Service 2010 recruitment exercise which took place during the month of December.

When the recruits reported for training this year, it was discovered that about 218 of them were there illegally. They were recruited using fake documents which contained forged signatures.
It is alleged that the said recruits paid up to Shs 14 million in bribes to corrupt NYS officials as each parted with between 50 - 70k to be recruited. They were then issued fake admission letters forged at Nairobi's Luthuli avenue.
The Kenya National Youth Service's mandate is to train the youth in technical & vocational skills in order to facilitate their engagement later in the national economy. NYS recruits also acquire paramilitary training & absorbed into the police or army forces.

This was to pave way for police reforms and for the Government to review the police training program.
Kenya's Administration Police Officers
The temporary ban was lifted around August 2010.
It was then announced that the Police would to take up around 7000 new recruits but it didn't happen.
With Police recruitment not taking place last year, I reckon it might happen early this year.
This prediction can be supported by the fact that the year has started with Kenya Wildlife Service conducting its Rangers recruitment exercise.
An anonymous reader also left a comment stating that police recruitment is expected to take place early this year.

The Administration police and Kenya police recruits shall train under a newly reviewed training program.
The training period has also been extended from 9 to 15 months.

There was a contract worth $10 million awarded to an Israeli firm to refurbish and upgrade a fleet of the army's armoured scout cars. The Israeli company was to fit the aged cars with new engines but the engines failed to perform.
A young girl's dream of joining the army was cut short after she was sent away from the military's recruits training school over pregnancy claims. This was despite the fact that she had received an invitation letter and an Airforce service number allotted to her. The girl denied she was pregnant and its believed that money was paid for her position to be given to another.

KWS Rangers Pass Out Parade
Successful recruits shall undergo a 6 months paramilitary training then after wards be deployed to the various parks, reserves & stations to conduct security operations.
Candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Must be a Kenyan citizen.
- Must hail from within the County of recruitment.
- Aged between 18-25 years.
- Height 5ft 8 inches for men; 5ft 4 inches for women.
- Education minimum - KCSE D - (Minus)
- Good unaided eyesight.
- Good health and physique.
- Clean record (valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the CID).
- Candidates must carry with them Original Certificates, National ID Card and other testimonials.
Recruitment starts on 17 Jan 2011 and ends on 29 Jan 2011.
