Early next year, 7000 trainees shall be recruited into the Kenya National Police Service.
This was announced today by the internal security permanent secretary Francis Kimemia.
They shall be recruited into the ranks and files of the Administration Police, General Service Unit and Kenya Police.
The 2012 Kenya Police recruitment exercise shall take place before the general elections.
This year, another 7000 recruits joined the police service and are currently undergoing training in their respective colleges.
The Government wants to ensure that there are enough police officers to manage next years general elections.
This is aimed at avoiding a repeat of the violence that occured after the previous elections.
