The year begun with recruitment of Rangers into the Kenya Wildlife Service in January in which 500 candidates from all 47 counties in Kenya were recruited.
The Kenya Wildlife Service Rangers recruitment this year was meant to address staffing short fall considering the fact that the previous rangers recruitment had taken place in December 2004.

The Government had announced that it plans to recruit 14000 police officers ahead of the 2012 general elections. So, a second Kenya Police recruitment is expected later this year or early next year.
